Northern white cedar grows thick along Maine's lake shores and swamp edges. Its flat, fanned sprays lie tight to the cotton, so every branch and tiny scale comes through. We scatter sprigs across the front and sleeves, mist the bleach by hand, and the shirt keeps its color everywhere the cedar sat.
